Czech This Out On Your Vacation in Prague

Are you looking for a great place to spend your summer vacation? If you’re looking for a European vacation with a fairy tale castle and breathtaking scenery, this is the place to be. Because Prague is full of surprises, we’ve put together a list of our favorite things to do and see in this fascinating city.

The Astronomical Clock

Get acquainted with Prague in the city center where you will find the gothic old Town Hall. From the street, you will see the strangely beautiful Astronomical clock, which has decorated the facade of the building for more than 600 years. Head up the tower for free, although you will have to pay extra if you want to see the magnificent interior of the hall.

The Charles Bridge

As you cruise along the Vltava River, take in the beauty of the Charles Bridge and the medieval castle on the hill. Prague Boats provides a wide range of river cruises to suit your needs. Tour the river to Devil’s Channel for a riverside view of the city’s best sights, or if you’re feeling extra fancy, pay the extra €2/$2.40 for the prosecco cruise.

The Prague Castle

On the other side of the river, the majestic Prague Castle looks down on the city. This UNESCO world heritage site dates back over a thousand years and is the world’s largest castle complex, according to the Guinness Book of World Records. As you stroll around the enchanting castle grounds, you will feel like royalty straight out of a fairy tale.

The Beer Bike

Take a ride on the Prague Beer Bike if you need a little extra motivation to get out and see the sights. The hour-long tour takes you through the city center’s main area, as well as the best clubs, pubs, and restaurants. While your guide takes you around the city, you can ride the beer bike with up to 14 friends and drink an unlimited amount of premium Czech beer.

The Bone Church

This incredible heritage site can be found just outside of Prague in the town of Kutná Hora. The otherwise unremarkable Roman Catholic Church’s ossuary is adorned with real human remains. While some may find it morbid, there is an undeniable beauty to it. And, above all, it’s unlike any other church you’ve ever seen.

The Absintherie

Prague has long been known as a popular place to chase the green fairies. No, not a real fairy but the rumored result of consuming the wormwood in the delightfully green drink absinthe. Learn about the popular Prague drink at the Absintherie; both a museum and bar, the Absintherie gives this magical drink the theatrical flair it deserves.

The Bohemia Jazz Fest

The Bohemia Jazz Fest, which takes place in mid-July, will have Prague dancing the night away. This is a must-see event for free live music in the beautiful Vrtba Garden. Due to its lovely Baroque style, the garden itself was created to decorate Count Jan Josep’s palace and is a popular setting for weddings and events. During the day, stroll through the hedges and take in one of the many painting and sculpture exhibitions on display this summer.

 David Černý’s Prague Sculptures

For a truly unique view of the city, join the Prague Arts Tour to see some of the most famous sculptures by the Czech artist David Černý. The artist’s strange and often hilarious sculptures are known to be some of the most bizarre in Europe. It’s best to go as a group since the private tours are cheapest for large groups. Not to mention, you’re going to want someone to take your photo with these wacky statues.

The Cross Club

If you’re looking for something different than your typical cozy pub, Cross Club is the place to go. This multicultural center hosts live music performances, theater productions, film screenings, and other events. This venue has a lot to offer, with its futuristic decor, freshly roasted coffee, and a plethora of entertainment options.

Letni Letna

If you’re going to be in Prague at the end of August, don’t miss Letni Letna. This international festival of contemporary circus and theater is one you won’t want to miss. The festival features circus workshops and day camps for children, as well as acrobatics inspired by Cirque du Soleil, theatrical performances, fire dancing shows, and more.
