Disneyland Shanghai is now open to Public
After being closed for a couple of days due to a positive COVID-19 case by a visitor, Shanghai Disneyland and Disneytown are open now. This comes after Chinese officials arrived at Shanghai Disney Resort to test thousands of people on October 31st. This led to the closure of Shanghai Disneyland and Disneytown on November 1st and 2nd as the Resort followed health and safety guidelines.
The following note was posted on Shanghai Disney Resort’s website announcing the resumption of operations:
Dear Guests,
Thank you for your understanding, cooperation, and patience over the past few days, as Shanghai Disneyland and Disneytown suspended operations according to directives on pandemic prevention and control.
Shanghai Disneyland and Disneytown will resume operations on Wednesday, November 3, 2021, with Shanghai Disneyland operating from 10:00 to 19:00, and Disneytown operating from 10:00 to 21:00.
All Shanghai Disney Resort Cast Members and Third-Party Employees returning to work have completed two Nucleic Acid Test (NAT) tests within 48 hours per prevention and control requirements, with all results negative, and are strictly following CDC self-health monitoring guidelines. All environment samples collected have been tested negative.
We will continue to implement enhanced health and safety measures, including intensive cleaning and sanitization of all facilities and strict management of indoor airflow and social distancing. We will also continue to enforce strict health and safety measures for all guests, including limited daily attendance, mandatory advanced ticketing and reservation, temperature and health code checks on resort entry, and staggered guest flow.
For guests whose travel plans were impacted, you may contact the original purchase channel with your inquiries or to request a refund or exchange.
We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to health care professionals and related departments for their professionalism and efficiency, and our Cast for their dedication and commitment. Their tremendous support during this period adds confidence in our pandemic prevention and control measures and protocols and has facilitated our smooth re-opening.
We also sincerely thank our guests and the general public for your kindness and understanding and look forward to seeing you all at Shanghai Disney Resort soon!

Below the notice, there were more details about refunds and changes to plans for guests that have been impacted by the recent events. With the reopening of Shanghai Disneyland and Disneytown, once again all of the Disney Theme Parks around the globe will be open. Shanghai Disneyland is not the first Disney Theme Park to find itself closing after reopening throughout the pandemic. Both Hong Kong Disneyland and Disneyland Paris also had to close their gates again after reopening due to the pandemic.
