Study shows top US locations for cherry blossom viewing

The cherry blossoms of ornamental Japanese cherry trees serve as nature’s confetti and a symbol of the approaching spring season.

Every year, the residents of Japan celebrate the arrival of cherry blossoms, also called Sakura, with a festival known as Sakura matsuri. Visitors from all over the world flock to witness the stunning sight of fully bloomed petals.

In case you can’t travel to Japan for this year’s Sakura season, the US has several amazing places to witness the cherry blossoms in full bloom. Japanese snack subscription box company, Sakuraco, analyzed factors like average Google review score, annual sunshine hours, annual rainfall, and the number of Instagram hashtags to rank the top destinations across the US. California emerges as the best state to view cherry blossoms, with three locations featuring in the top 10. At the top of the list is Descanso Gardens in Los Angeles, with an impressive score of 8.8.

With a variety of options ranging from traditional Japanese gardens to botanical gardens, there is no shortage of stunning locations to view cherry blossoms.
