Tokyo Imperial Palace is the residence of the Imperial Family where some parts of the quarters are open to the public as a beautiful garden and park that was built on the former Edo Castle grounds. The Imperial East Gardens is a beautiful Japanese garden where you can see historical structures including impressive stone walls, remains of the castle tower and turrets from the Edo period. 

It’s about a 10-minute walk from the bustling Tokyo Station, and you can spend a nice quiet time walking around the area surrounded by green, castle remains and a moat. It’s also a popular place to go running, and you’ll see many people running around the palace especially in the morning or the evening.
