Argentina Becomes The 27th Country To Remove Entry Requirements

Argentina becomes the 27th country to remove entry requirements for international visitors – becoming the 27th country in the world to do so.

The announcement came at the end of last week – 1 April – when the nation’s Ministry of Health confirmed that the country will be returning to its near-pre-pandemic entry protocols ‘in the next few days.

This will mean that travelers will no longer be asked to show proof of vaccination against Covid-19 – or undertake a pre-departure Covid-19 test in order to enter Argentina.

And, the news will come as quite a surprise – with Argentina has been one of the strictest nations with regards to its border closures – which had previously been extended.

The country has also implemented some of the strictest – and longest – internal lockdowns throughout the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

What are Argentina’s Current Entry Requirements?

Having reopened for the likes of U.S. tourists towards the end of last year (1 November), Argentina has maintained its entry requirements for international visitors – with only fully vaccinated travelers being able to enter. Argentina Becomes The 27th Country To Remove Entry Requirements.

Here is a list of Argentina’s current entry requirements for international visitors:

  • Show proof of full vaccination against Covid-19
  • Present a negative Covid-19 PCR (test must be taken within 72 hours of departure) or Rapid Antigen test result (test must be taken within 48 hours of departure) 
  • Obtain travel health insurance – which covers Covid-19 medical expenses
  • Complete an online ‘sworn statement form’ within 48 hours of traveling to Argentina.

Children that are aged 5 and below – however – are exempt from having to undergo a pre-departure Covid-19 test.

Those that have tested positive for the virus – in the previous 90 days before departure to Argentina – will also not be required to take a Covid-19 test before traveling to the country.

You will, however, be expected to show proof of your Covid-19 recovery with a medical certificate.

At this present time, those that are not fully vaccinated – or are unvaccinated – are not allowed to enter Argentina for tourism purposes.

However, the recent announcement shows the above rules dramatically changing and being discontinued within the next few days.

Argentina Set To Return To ‘Pre-Pandemic’ Entry Protocols In The Coming Days

Although no exact date was given as to when Argentina will once again implement its pre-pandemic entry protocols, the country is expected to return to these in the coming days.

International tourists will soon NO longer be required to:

  • show proof of their Covid-19 vaccination
  • present a negative Covid-19 PCR or Rapid Antigen test result.

Also, the country will be making it possible to enter and exit using all of its 237 points of entry – by land, river, sea, and air.

However, although there will no longer be a requirement for visitors to show proof of vaccination – or to present a negative Covid-19 test on arrival – all international travelers will still be required to: 

With unvaccinated travelers soon to be allowed entry to Argentina for tourism purposes – and without the need to undergo a pre-departure Covid-19 test – the Argentian Ministry of Health has advised such individuals to undergo a diagnostic test within 24 hours of entering the country.
