Georgia Removes All Entry Requirements

Georgia has become the latest nation to remove all of its Covid-related entry requirements – with it now possible to enter the country just like in pre-pandemic times.

The news that the country was removing its few remaining entry requirements was announced just yesterday (15 June) by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia – with the nation’s authorities revealing that international visitors arriving into the country will no longer be required to present proof of:

  • their vaccination against Covid-19, or;
  • a negative Covid-19 PCR test result.

So, basically this now means that whether you are fully vaccinated or not, you are able to enter Georgia – via air, land or sea – without having to adhere to a single entry requirement related to Covid-19.

Yes, that’s right – Georgia is now once again fully open to all travelers with zero entry requirements and restrictions!

What Were Georgia’s Latest Covid-Related Entry Requirements?

Prior to yesterday’s announcement that international visitors wanting to enter Georgia will no longer be required to adhere to any Covid-related entry requirements, the Georgian authorities did require travelers to adhere to entry protocols – which were dependent on the traveler’s vaccination status.

For instance, for travelers that had received their full vaccination against Covid-19, there was only a requirement to show their vaccination certificate upon arrival into Georgia – which would have allowed them entry without the need to undergo any Covid testing or quarantine.

However, for anyone wanting to enter the country – who was not classified as fully vaccinated – there was a requirement to present proof of a negative PCR test result, with the individual needing to have taken the test within the previous 72 hours before their planned departure to Georgia.

There was, however, no need for unvaccinated travelers to undertake any further Covid-19 testing once they arrived into the country.

Unlike some countries, Georgia did not accept a proof of recovery certificate – and so travelers were required to follow the entry rules for either vaccinated or unvaccinated travelers – even if they had been infected with Covid-19 in the last six months.
