1. Shinning Moon Tokyo (Sailor Moon-Themed Restaurant)
That’s right!…In Tokyo there is a WHOLE restaurant that is dedicated to Sailor moon and is Tokyo’s first permanent Sailor Moon restaurant!! It opening recently in September 2019 and has been very popular since then! The restaurant features a full menu (which changes monthly), that is full of Sailor Moon themed food! On top of this, there is a live stage show where professional actors perform as different characters and do different dances that have been inspired by the anime!

2. Sailor Moon Store
This is another location that is Sailor Moon themed and has been opened up ‘permanently’! If you’re a fan and are in Tokyo, you really need to visit this store! It can be fairly hard to find good Sailor Moon merchandise in Tokyo, due to the anime being fairly old now. But this shop saved us all when it opened as it is full of amazing merchandise that is constantly changing and is very new! They have tons of unique merchandise, such as phone cases, food and clothes!
So if you’re looking for good Sailor Moon merchandise in Tokyo, but are having trouble finding any…make sure you check out this store located in Harajuku!

3. Azabu-Hikawa Shrine
One of the Sailor Moon real life locations is ‘Azabu Hikawa Shrine’ which is just called ‘Hikawa Shrine’ in the anime. The girls often hung out at this shrine due to it being where Sailor Mars worked and lived. Although the pictures look a little different, the Sailor Moon creator has even stated that she drew inspiration from this shrine when she created the shrine in the anime…which explains why their names are so similar! It’s not just this shrine either, the area in which the girls usually hung out in the anime is based off of the area in Tokyo known as ‘Azabu-Juban’. So if you’re a fan and you’re in Tokyo…make sure you check out this shrine as well as the area as a whole!

4. TOEI Animation Museum
Toei Animation Studio is the studio that animated Sailor Moon! The studio has also animated many other popular animes like PreCure and One Piece! This museum located in Tokyo is a museum dedicated to the animation studio! This means that throughout the museum you can learn all about the process of animating each anime, partake in various interactive activities and buy merchandise from all the animes! It really is a fun day out, and the best thing is that it is COMPLETELY FREE to enter!
Although this museum is about animes other than Sailor Moon aswell, it’s a great place to go if you’re interested in how the anime was animated and brought to life!

5. Azabu-Juban Area
As you can see from these two photos above, the station in the anime was clearly featured off of the real life station of ‘Azabu-Juban’. Not only are the names very similar, but the stations look almost identical! And it’s not just the stations that are similar…most of the places in the anime where the girls hang out at was inspired by the whole Azabu-Juban area, meaning there are lots of locations in the area that directly featured in the anime!
If you’re in Tokyo and you love Sailor Moon, you have to go here! Walking around the area, you can really feel the atmosphere of the anime and it is super fun trying to spot places that featured in the anime!
