Recreate your favorite K-drama scenes in Seoul! Annyeonghaseyo! Do you wish to set foot on the filming sites where your favorite OPPA (오빠) or ONNI (언니) has been when watching all the K-dramas? Here are some of the most popular filming locations in Seoul where you can re-enact your own Korean drama scene!

1. A Tale of Tower Romance

Namsan Tower With Love Padlock At Summer Day

N Seoul Tower is known for its futuristic decoration of artistic media art displays through the use of stunning display panels, making it a romantic spot for a hot date. Thanks to “My Love from the Star”, tourists, especially couples, began flocking the roof terrace with their locks to imitate the romantic gesture signifying the unbreakable bond of the heart. At the highest point of the tower, visitors can enjoy the fairy-tale-like panoramic view, especially when the sun is about to set.

On the way down from Namsan Mountain, Korean drama fans can recreate the scene shot from “Boys over Flowers” where Gu Jun-Pyo, played by heartthrob Lee Min-ho, waited patiently in front of the N Seoul Tower for his lover.

2. A Scenic Waterway by the River

Buckwheat flower field and city view at Banpo Han river park Seorae island in Seoul, Korea

Spanning almost 500km through the city, the Han River has been the perfect background scene for several contemporary Korean dramas such as “Lie to Me” where actors Yoon Eun-Hye and Kang Ji-hwan are seen cruising along the river in adorable duck boats.

Just like Heo Joon-Jae (Lee Min-ho) and Shim Chung (Jun Ji-Hyun) in the popular drama “The Legend of the Blue Sea”, you can also enjoy the spectacular Seoul International Fireworks Festival, held every October in the Hangang Park, by the Han River. If that is not enough reason to visit, look out for the Banpo Bridge for the light and water shows. Installed along 570m on both sides of Banpodaegyo Bridge, some 200 lights illuminate the fountain as it sends out dancing, rainbow-colored jets of water in the air in musical harmony.

3. A Beautiful Reflection of History

The ornately painted eaves and traditional wooden screens of Geunjeongjeon, the Throne Hall of the Joseon Dynasty kings, overlook the stone courtyard of Gyeongbokgung palace in the historic heart of Seoul, South Korea.

Gwanghwamun, the largest gate of Gyeongbukgung Palace in Seoul has been featured in dramas of various genres from action to fantasy. One of them is, the exciting scene from “Iris” when Hyun-jun (Lee Byung-hun), Sun-Hwa (Kim So-Yeon), and Seung-hee (Kim Tae-hee) tried to stop the North Korean terrorist from setting off a nuclear bomb.

When at night, the gate is illuminated with lights, making it more impressive and stunning. This was also a background for one of the romantic scenes in the TV series “Queen In-hyun’s Man”. Koreans see Gwanghwamun as an icon of Seoul. The King Sejong bronze statue in the Gwanghwamun square is the main attraction where it portrays the life and achievements of the great man himself during the Joseon Dynasty.

4. A Village with New Life of Art

Sunset in Naksan Park, Seoul, Korea

Park-ha (Han Ji-min) walks through Ihwa Mural Village in one of the episodes of Rooftop Prince with Yong Tae-yong (Park Yoo-chun) following her at a distance. At one point, she sits down at a beautifully painted staircase. This famous spot in Ihwa Mural Village, initially a residential village, has morphed into a popular spot for photoshoots and filming, gaining popularity among the locals and tourists. Every space and corner of the street is beautifully painted with creative artworks by local artists and university students. Expect to be immersed in the remarkable spaces with mural hunting at the small village on the slopes of Naksan Park.

If you decided to visit Seoul to see the drama’s shoot sites. These locations are definitely worth a visit. Who knows? You may even bump into your favorite K-drama star! But here are a few tips to keep the energy alive throughout the day. When traveling, have a reliable rated IP68 dust and water resistant smartphone, with amazing front and rear cameras of 16MP and f1.9 lens like the Samsung Galaxy A Series (2017) to capture all those scenic views when exploring the trails of TV and movie sets in Seoul. Also, don’t forget souvenirs and memorabilia from your favorite K-drama!

5. A Legendary Love Story Island

Beautiful pink romantic walkway among tree tunnel and pavilion in the autumn season, South Korea or Republic of Korea

K-drama fans would definitely agree that Nami Island is a “must-visit” destination, as it is home to the globally successful drama “Winter Sonata”. The half-moon-shaped island located in the Bukhangang River off the town of Gapyeong is a perfect day trip from Seoul. Fans can rent bikes and cycle through the scenic tree-lined bike lane just like how Bae Yong-Joon and Choi Ji-woo did in the drama. To commemorate the commercial success of the drama, a statue of the main characters can also be found on the island at the spot where they first kissed. Follow the footsteps of the legendary love story and walk under the forest of verdant tress while admiring leaves painted in hues of gold, ruby, and amber during autumn. Whether or not you are a fan of Korean dramas, the picturesque natural environment will easily make you fall in love with beautiful Nami Island.

6. Go on a Play Date at Seoulland (서울랜드)

Let’s start the list from Seoul. For a fun and adventurous date with my loved one in South Korea’s capital, we chose to go to Seoulland where Ahn Min Hyuk and Do Bong Soon in ‘Strong Woman Do Bong Soon’ had their date. Fun fact: Seoulland is actually South Korea’s first-ever theme park!

We tried riding the Flume Ride, just like what the two love birds in the drama did. It was tons of fun! Don’t forget to get yourselves a pair of cheesy but cute twinsies headbands for the perfect recreation of the drama scene.

7. Eat Odeng at a street stall

Odeng (korean street food)

Remember this sweet scene in ‘Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo’ where Jung Joon Hyung tries to appease an angry Kim Bok Joo with food but ended up eating many of those skewers herself? Food is indeed the way to a man’s heart – good choice, Jung Joon Hyung!

The street food in question is actually ‘odeng’, which is basically fishcake on a stick. Unfortunately, the exact store in the drama doesn’t exist anymore, but there are lots of odeng stalls around that are perfect for a reenactment!

8. Hug Each Other at Yangpyeong Dumulmeori (양평 두물머리)

Dumulmeori Korea

In ‘She Was Pretty’, Ji Sung Joon took Kim Hye Jin for a romantic picnic in a beautiful park beside the river, after which proceeding to confess his eternal love for her. Is it just me or is that not every girl’s dream? *goes all starry-eyed*

The park is located in Yangpyeong, a small town connected to Seoul by subway, called Dumulmeori. We went there twice, once when it was snowing and another when the sky was clear, and we both agree that this place is a perfect romantic getaway for couples looking to escape the city. Just look at how breathtaking and serene the place is!

9. Hanmi Bookstore (한미서점)

If you have watched ‘Goblin’, I am sure you remember this bookstore in a yellow building where Ji Eun Tak showed Kim Shin how to lovingly pat someone else’s head. There were also other scenes shot inside the bookstore itself, like when the ‘Lady in Red’ warned Kim Shin about his fate with Eun Tak.

10. Break A Sweat at Red Ginseng Spa (홍삼스파참숯가마사우나 )

There are many scenes in K-dramas where the male lead lovingly stares at the love of his life while she is deep in slumber. Lucky for Shim Cheong, she has Heo Joon Jae who kept a lookout for her throughout her ‘escape’ to a public sauna. If Lee Min Ho stared at me like that, I’m pretty sure that my insides would all turn to jelly!
