Kayaks and cocktails in the Maldives

You know you’re living in luxury when your own butler brings you a mango after you casually mention that you’re craving one. The luxurious resorts in the Maldives aren’t just extravagance; they’re downright epicurean. They pander to desires you didn’t know you had with private lap pools, in-room massages, and even pillow menus.

The popularity of this Indian Ocean archipelago among couples is therefore not surprising. There is much here for anyone looking for more than a week of idleness and sluggishness, though. Take a kayaking mini-adventure and explore the atolls. It’s romantic to set out on your own on a small boat, and it’s the ideal way to wake up from a sun-baked sleep. Take a look at the world-class coral of the islands by packing a snorkel and some fins.

Mountains Peaks to Mauritian beaches

Mauritius, a tropical paradise, is a favorite destination for luxury-seeking couples looking for exciting romance getaways. A shattered ring of mountains surrounds Mauritius, which was formed by volcanic activity eight million years ago. They are not exactly Alpine, with elevations between 300 and 800m (1000 and 2600 ft), but the vistas are nevertheless breathtaking.

Get stunning views of the Moka Range by hiking Le Pouce. Le Pouce, the third-highest mountain on the island at 812m (2664ft), is a three-hour round-trip climb that starts out gently and requires some scrambling at the summit. Another worthwhile climb is to Le Morne, which is located on the island’s southwest tip.

How to do it

Travel to Petit Verger, which is close to Saint Pierre, a village in the Moka region. To get to the little parking area beside the trailhead, take the small, paved road that branches off the B47 road at the corner. Follow the Le Pouce hiking trail from there.
